Were you there??? Tag your friends if you attended. If not, you missed out, BIG TIME!

The skies were overcast and the rains were intermittent, but that did nothing to damper the sunny spirits of the 2500+ persons who supported the Glow 5K Run/Walk at Skinner Park, San Fernando on July 4th,2015. The hugely successful event, dedicated at bringing awareness to Diabetes, was hosted by Color Splash Events, and Southern Supplies Limited is once again very proud to have been a Sponsor.

Here are our Top 5 Highlights:-

>The Glow Effect- Each participant was provided with a Complimentary Glow Necklace and Hand band upon entry, as well as the first 200 Registrants were afforded Free T-Shirts, stitched with 3M’s Reflective Tape on the right sleeve. The Strips were supplied and sewn by Southern Supplies Limited, in partnership with 3M Trinidad. The aim of this was to show the Safety Value of having High Visibility Reflective material on clothing in dark areas. All accessories lit up on the Route and the photographers certainly got some cool shots.

>The Sound Effect- The Southern Supplies Music Truck, equipped with our very own In-House DJ, Jason, created a “Jouvert-like atmosphere and egged the laggards on when they were ready to throw in their towels.

>The Physical Effect- Yessss, our legs undoubtedly cramped and our Muscles hurt the day after, but this was so worth it! The route was not as bad as we thought it would be. Give yourself a pat on the back, if you made it all the way, without cheating :P

>The Unwind Effect-Post- Race, partakers were offered Free Body, Foot, Neck and Back Massages by some incredibly skillful and experienced masseurs. This was a very welcomed perk for the many tired limps that lined up in their numbers for their turn with these adept hands.

>The Rave Effect- Talk about an after party! Come to think of it, we are not sure if the root of our body pains was the actual run or the non-stop dancing.

According to the International Diabetes federation, there were 135,600 cases of diabetes in Trinidad and Tobago in 2014. Educating and bringing awareness of diabetes to the Trinidad and Tobago population begins with lifestyle changes, what better way to prevent this disease promoting to our young population.

The event was well patronized by many of the Schools in the area and we would like to shout out St.Joseph’s Convent San Fernando, who was the recipient of a SSL Sponsored Trophy, for Most Participants from one School.
